The global economy is changing

Current jobs are disappearing due to automation and new jobs are emerging every day as a result of technological advances. The continual advances in technology is changing the way students learn, connect and interact every day. Skills developed by students through Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), developed in specific units of Inquiry at ISL from Grade 4 +, will provide them with the foundation to succeed at school and beyond.

 

We recognise a future ready student and acknowledge that employers’ demands for STEM qualifications and skills are high and will continue to increase in the future. Currently, 75 percent of jobs in the fastest growing industries require workers with STEM skills. To be competitive, the workforce needs people who can adapt to a changing workplace. STEM empowers individuals with the skills to succeed and adapt to this changing world.

Entrepreneurial education will be developed within the units of inquiry

This is about developing our students’ ability to create social, cultural, or economic value. Enabling experiences for thinking critically and creatively, undertaking complex problem solving, negotiating, communicating, and leading, all contributing to developing a student’s entrepreneurial mindset.

 

The UN Sustainable goals will also be used to develop our students’ stewardship of the world as a part of our mission, values and curriculum. With a focus upon social awareness and responsibility, our units of inquiry will embed theseimportant concepts as our students strive for social justice and equity, through consideration of: 

 

: No poverty (SDG 1); Good health and well-being (SDG 3); Gender equality (SDG 5); Clean water and sanitation (SDG 6); Affordable and clean energy (SDG 7); Reduced inequalities (SDG 10); Sustainable cities and communities (SDG 11); Responsible consumption and production (SDG 12); Climate action (SDG 13) and Peace, justice, and strong institutions (SDG 16).

Including EAL support, is part of the ISL program from the second year onwards
