High School
We provide a rigorous program of study in Grades 9 and 10 which prepares our students for the rigors of the International Baccalaureate Diploma program, which they will complete in Grades 11 and 12.Â
The ISL High School program offers a holistic and globally recognized education through a broad range of subjects within the US Common Core (Grades 9 and 10) and the International Baccalaureate Diploma program (grades 11 and 12).
Subject Overview:
- English Language Arts/French Language Arts – Students deepen their literacy and communication competencies in both languages through the study of literary and informational texts, writing for different purposes, research, presentations, discussion, and collaboration.Â
- Mathematics – The US Common Core Standards are rigorously covered with aim that every ISL student becomes confident and proficient in mathematics.
- Sciences – Single sciences are taught in Grades 9 and 10 (biology, chemistry and physics). In addition, project- and inquiry-based learning lessons bring together the knowledge and skills which students develop across the Physical, Life, and Earth & Space Sciences, and these are further integrated within STEM projects.
- Social Studies – Civic engagement, geography, history, and global interdependence skills’ development is guided by the C3 Framework.
- Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) and Entrepreneurship Education – ISL provides opportunities for hands-on projects, the use of digital technology to enhance learning, logical reasoning, creativity, and financial literacy.
- Real-world, collaborative projects integrating multiple subjects to develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills, addressing the challenges presented in the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
- Physical Education – Well-being and good health are promoted through weekly teacher-guided physical education lessons.
- Personal, Social & Emotional Learning – ISL placed the development of self-awareness, teamwork and values-driven behaviours through this program of study.
