Guidelines for each age and grade
At ISL we follow strict rules regarding class assignments that are appropriate to each child’s educational, social, and emotional age range. This approach gives education a framework and makes sure students master the skills and information they need throughout every developmental stage.
This chart gives a comprehensive outline for your child’s class based on age:

Criteria:
- Applicants for PreK are not required to have any prior knowledge of French / English.
- KG applicants should be able to demonstrate some ability to communicate in French/English.
- KG applicants should demonstrate physical, social and emotional readiness for the school environment.
- Upon meeting the above requirements, places will be offered depending on availability.
- Students must be fully toilet trained.
- Applicants should be able to demonstrate excellent behavior and social and emotional skills.
- Elementary applicants should demonstrate age-appropriate literacy and numeracy skills
- Applicants must be able to complete entrance assessments
- Applicants must provide prior school reports for the previous academic year.
A verbal interview between the Admissions Director, Principal (as required) and the pupil and their family will be arranged.
Upon meeting all requirements, places will be offered depending on availability.
- Applicants should be able to demonstrate excellent behavior and social and emotional skills.
- Applicants must be able to complete entrance assessments
- Applicants should demonstrate age-appropriate literacy and numeracy skills as determined by entrance assessments and prior school reports.
- An interview between the Principal and the applicant will be arranged to ensure academic and attitudinal capabilities.
Upon meeting all requirements, places will be offered depending on availability.

- Students must demonstrate a high level of proficiency in the English language to access the curriculum.
